Ovulation Calculator — Track Your Fertile Window

Calculate your ovulation date, fertile window, and next expected period. Confidence-based predictions with optional basal body temperature, LH testing, and cervical mucus tracking for more accurate cycle analysis.

Average Cycle Length
Luteal Phase LengthOptional

The luteal phase is the time between ovulation and your next period. 14 days is the average, but 10–16 days is normal.

Track Your Fertility SignsOptional
°F

Take your temperature immediately after waking, before any movement.

LH Test Result

Egg-white mucus is the most fertile — it helps sperm swim to the egg.

Ovulation Pain (Mittelschmerz)

Entering your fertility signs helps refine predictions and gives you a more complete picture of your cycle.

What Is an Ovulation Calculator?

An ovulation calculator estimates when you are most fertile during your menstrual cycle. By entering the first day of your last period and your average cycle length, you can predict your ovulation date, fertile window (the 6 days each month when pregnancy is possible), and your next period.

Unlike basic calculators that assume every woman has a 28-day cycle with ovulation on day 14, our tool adjusts for your actual cycle length and luteal phase. For the most accurate results, we also let you track real fertility signs — basal body temperature (BBT), LH test results, and cervical mucus — so you can see how your body's patterns align with the prediction.

How Ovulation Dates Are Calculated

Ovulation is calculated by counting backward from your next expected period. The average luteal phase (the time between ovulation and your next period) is 14 days, but it can range from 10 to 16 days.

  • Standard formula: Ovulation day = cycle length - luteal phase length. For a 28-day cycle with a 14-day luteal phase, ovulation = day 14.
  • For a 30-day cycle: Ovulation = 30 - 14 = day 16.
  • For a 26-day cycle: Ovulation = 26 - 14 = day 12.
  • Fertile window: The 5 days before ovulation plus ovulation day itself (6 total days).

Your fertile window is the only time during your cycle when pregnancy is possible. Sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while the egg survives only 12–24 hours. This is why the days leading up to ovulation matter as much as ovulation itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I calculate my ovulation date?
Enter the first day of your last period and your average cycle length into the calculator above. For a 28-day cycle, ovulation typically occurs around day 14. Our calculator adjusts for your cycle length and luteal phase, and shows your full fertile window. For confirmation, track basal body temperature or use our Due Date Calculator if you conceive.
When is the lowest chance of getting pregnant?
The lowest chance of pregnancy occurs outside your fertile window — roughly the week before your period and the first few days after it ends. However, since cycle lengths vary and sperm can survive up to 5 days, calendar-based methods alone are not reliable for contraception. If you're tracking to avoid pregnancy, consider using a more robust method.
What are the 7 signs of ovulation?
The 7 most common signs include: 1) Egg-white cervical mucus — clear, stretchy, like raw egg whites, 2) Mild pelvic pain — a twinge or cramp on one side (mittelschmerz), 3) Rise in basal body temperature — a sustained 0.5–1°F increase after ovulation, 4) Increased sex drive, 5) Breast tenderness, 6) Light spotting, and 7) Bloating. LH test kits detect the hormone surge that happens 24–36 hours before ovulation and are the most reliable at-home predictor.
How to 100% confirm ovulation?
The only medical methods to 100% confirm ovulation are a progesterone blood test (PdG) or an ultrasound showing the corpus luteum. At-home, basal body temperature (BBT) charting confirms ovulation after the fact — you'll see a sustained temperature rise of 0.5–1°F that stays elevated until your next period. LH tests predict ovulation but don't confirm it happened. No method is 100% reliable for real-time confirmation.
Will I 100% get pregnant on ovulation day?
No. Even with perfectly timed intercourse on ovulation day, the probability of conception in a single cycle is about 20–30% for healthy couples. Age, egg quality, sperm health, fallopian tube patency, and uterine lining all play a role. The fertile window (5 days before + day of ovulation) maximizes your chances, but most couples take 3–6 months of trying to conceive. If you've been tracking for 6+ cycles without success, consult a fertility specialist.
What are the 5 fertile days?
The 5 fertile days are the 5 days leading up to ovulation — plus ovulation day itself, making a 6-day fertile window. These are the only days in your cycle when intercourse can lead to pregnancy. Sperm can survive up to 5 days in the reproductive tract, while the egg lasts only 12–24 hours after release. The peak fertility window is the 2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation.
When is ovulation after period?
Ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before your next period, not after your last one. For a 28-day cycle, that's around day 14 (counting from the first day of your period). But for a 32-day cycle, ovulation happens around day 18. Counting from the end of your period is unreliable since period length varies — always count from the first day of bleeding. Use our calculator above for your personalized date.
Why isn't the ovulation date guaranteed?
Ovulation varies from cycle to cycle. Stress, illness, travel, weight changes, PCOS, thyroid conditions, and perimenopause can all delay or skip ovulation. Even women with regular cycles can ovulate a few days earlier or later than predicted. Our confidence score shows how reliable the prediction is — but the only way to know for sure is combining calendar tracking with LH tests, BBT charting, and cervical mucus observation.
